When it comes to extremely touching games, Spec Ops: The Line comes to everyone’s mind. Released back in the early 2010s, the game is set in an alternate universe Dubai, where three American soldiers are set for a rescue mission. The story then diverts in a crucial way that makes people feel quite heartbroken. Despite its very long overdue development, such as changing its core design, and the change of story and characters, Spec Ops: The Line brought the bravest men to their knees, wishing they didn’t experience what those soldiers went through.

A game with such a background and a followerbase- despite its age- has been delisted from Steam for no apparent reason. As we all know, the easiest way to reach games is to get them through stream services like Steam or Epic Store, while other providers like GOG and Humble Bundle are still having a hard time catching on with their barely-existent streaming programs. Epic Store has still a lot of roads to cover, while Steam is considered to be the best way to acquire and play games- until the publisher says no of course.

This is exactly what happened to Spec Ops: The Line. The publisher 2K seems to have pulled the plug on the game and it is currently unavailable to get on the Steam store. However, you can still purchase a copy of it from sites like GOG or Xbox Live without any issue. Alternatively, you can also get the game from sites that provide keys and use them on the respective platforms as well.

The most common reason for a game to be pulled off from the streaming services tends to be licensing issues. Most of the games of that era use at least some form of music that either has a strict licensing or a short-term contract for its availability. 2K hasn’t made a proper announcement about why it was delisted or if there is currently a fix coming to enable it back on Steam. The time will tell, and in the meantime, we highly suggest taking a look at Spec Ops: The Line’s story and gameplay if you can, as it is still considered to be not topped off by any other military game on the market.
