Starfield's Steam Rating Keeps Dropping

Despite a strong start, Bethesda's spacefaring RPG rating on Steam keeps dropping lower and lower.

Starfield is a major game that had a rather odd release, the game was highly anticipated with many gamers clamoring to get their hands on Bethesda's next major release, then the game released to much controversy over basic English grammar and technical issues. Currently, despite its strong initial release, the game is currently sitting at Mixed Steam reviews and seems to be dropping lower and lower. The main reason for this looks to be that many of Starfield's systems aren't as fleshed out as they should be.

To say that Starfield was a divisive release for Bethesda is quite the understatement, many praised the game for the sheer quantity of things to do in the game surpassing what was possible in previous Bethesda titles such as Fallout 4 or Skyrim. However, many also felt that due to the sheer amount of things that were possible, this also caused the quality of said content to drop significantly. With a mix of unsatisfied expectations and subjectively underdeveloped mechanics, such as the game's infamous space exploration, many feel that Bethesda has bitten off more than they can chew with Starfield.

Despite this, Starfield was actually a huge success for Bethesda, the studio is infamously known for their buggy releases, but Starfield turned out to be the studios least buggy release as of late. The general consensus from fans is that the game is a traditional Bethesda game with a strong base to work off of. Despite the praise, the game doesn't seem to be faring too well, with many reviews for the game on Steam being mostly mixed. As of writing, Starfield is sitting at a score of 64%, which is a far lower rating than Fallout 76, a release that was disliked by both fans of the Fallout series and Bethesda as a whole. The news of Starfield's lower score was shared by Reddit user SailingDevi, who shared the post on the official Starfield subreddit.

The thread soon became the hub of discussion with many fans airing their thoughts and opinions about the title, its rating and how it will be handled in the future. Though many tried to argue against the game receiving such a low score, many did agree that while the mechanics that were implemented were great in concept, many felt that it failed in its execution. Hopefully, improvements will be made to the game that will make a true gem like Skyrim, which is still played to this day.
