Just when you think the Switch is on its way out, the headlines for big releases keep coming! Nintendo has been steadily dropping quality content in 2023 and looks to continue that trend well into 2024. From Fire Emblem Engage to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there has been something for every kind of Nintendo fan. Nintendo has also been showing love towards Pikmin and Metroid, which would normally have large gaps between new releases. Just when you thought it could not get any crazier in a post Pikmin 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom world, it did.
Nintendo held a massive Nintendo Direct showcase this past June. The June 2023 Nintendo Direct gave Mario fans, in particular, a lot to look forward to, including a new Princess Peach game, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a remake of Super Mario RPG. If you had told me that was it for upcoming Mario titles on Switch, I would have said this is more than enough!
Well, that all changed with the closing announcement for today’s Nintendo Direct. The beloved RPG classic, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, is receiving a remaster sometime next year for the Nintendo Switch.
This comes as a huge sigh of relief for longtime Paper Mario fans, as entries to succeed Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has released to mixed reviews. There is a good reason why Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is still widely considered to be the best in the series. Gorgeous visuals, memorable companion characters, and arguably the best combat the franchise has ever had, blends together to make Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door a truly exquisite RPG. Look forward to the remaster of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when it launches just in time for its twentieth anniversary in 2024 on Nintendo Switch.
