It would seem we finally have an official announcement for the Helldivers 2. However, fans will also be glad to know that the developers of the game, Arrowhead Games, have also given a release window. The game, which will serve as a prequel to the first Helldivers game that was released in 2015. Besides from the trailer, Arrowhead also revealed that the game will be releasing on more than one platform aside from the PS5.
Helldivers rose to fame when it was released thanks to both its top-down co-op gameplay, which saw players battle it against the many terrifying creatures found within the game's setting and the fact that it was the first game developed by Sony to be available on PC. To this day, many Steam players still play the game, almost 8 years since its release. For quite some time now many fans of the game have been inquiring if a sequel was in the works and now it would seem that the developers finally have an answer, that a new co-op will be coming soon.
During Sony's latest PlayStation Showcase, it was revealed that players wouldn't have to wait very long as Helldivers 2 was expected to release sometime later in 2023. In the trailer we got to see some of the action-packed gameplay as well as the confirmation that the sequel will also be available on PC. It would appear that Helldivers 2 will be a welcome entry into the already chaotic co-op shooter genre.
Unlike its predecessor, which as mentioned earlier is a top-down game, Helldivers 2 will be giving players a different perspective, in the third-person variety. Helldivers 2 will be a fast-paced third-person shooter filled with many new alien monstrosities for you to slay. The trailer also provides fans with some insight into many of the game's features and mechanics such as the different gadgets and weapon types, as well as some much-appreciated dark humor.
The announcement has definitely caused a fair share of excitement in the game's fanbase. When the game releases sometime this year, it will most likely be a smash hit offering even more fun and chaotic gameplay that will hopefully surpass its predecessor with all new third-person perspective, up to date graphics, even more gadgets and weapons. Helldivers 2 will launch later this year on both PC and PS5.
