It would seem that the long wait is over and after almost 11 years, we have finally received a trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 and boy is there plenty in store for players. The trailer that was first shown at Sony's latest PlayStation Showcase gives a glimpse at what is coming in the sequel to Capcom's cult classic RPG.
The first Dragon's Dogma game was released back in 2012, and was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game which is meant to be a love letter to the DnD beat-em ups that Capcom was famous for in the 90's, brought a lot of innovative new systems to the RPG, including the game's Pawn System. This system would allow the Arisen, the character that the player controls, to recruit AI-controlled companions to aid them on their journey to slay the titular Dragon. Players also had the option to create their own personal pawn, which along with the others in your party, could be ordered to heal, fight or retreat.
During the game's trailer, we start off with a relatively peaceful scene, a panning shot showing off the region's beautiful landscape, but soon we are thrown straight into the action and we see some of the various creatures that we will be encountering during our journey such as the familiar dragon but we also see some new beasties such as a terrifying gorgon. The Arisen returns, but for some peculiar reason doesn't seem to remember their previous adventures.
We also get to see what the combat will like in the game. The Dragon's Dogma series is known for its unique take on combat, especially when going up against larger opponents, and it would seem the sequel will carry on this tradition. We see our protagonist climb up and scale their enemies, we also get a glimpse at the game's all new destructible environments.
Fans of the series are understandably incredibly excited, especially as Capcom has promised that the game will be heavily narrative driven and players will need to make some difficult choices during their journey. Despite the excitement, we don't know when Dragon's Dogma 2 will be releasing as Capcom has yet to give a release date. What we do know is Dragon's Dogma 2 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
