It’s Official: Sony To Hold Huge PlayStation Showcase, May 24th

Sony To Hold Huge PlayStation Showcase, May 24th

By MChipmunks, Posted 17 May 2023

We previously reported that PlayStation was rumored to be holding a massive showcase near the end of May. It has been confirmed today that a PlayStation showcase has been announced for next week. E3 2023 is no more, but it is still around that time of the year for big gaming announcements. Xbox is set to have a showcase in June and could use a break after the rough patch they went through with the release of Redfall. This should be a huge blowout for PlayStation as some previously announced titles are due for some long awaited release dates, gameplay reveals, and more. We can expect to finally see some gameplay for both of Insomniacs latest Marvel projects: Wolverine and Spider-Man 2.

Square Enix is set to release the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XVI next month, so we can expect to see a final trailer and when we can play the demo. Shift Up Corporation still hasn’t shown much of their new action-adventure title, Stellar Blade, and would be nice to see new gameplay or at the best a release date. There are just so many possibilities for this presentation. Gamers, including myself, are frothing at the mouth for some much-needed updates in the world of PlayStation.

Could we possibly see a return to legendary franchises of gaming past? While Ratchet and Clank has had renewed interest ever since the remake on PS4 in 2016, followed by the stunning Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, many classic series have since lie dormant. We haven’t seen the likes of another famous power duo, Jak and Daxter, or the thieving raccoon, Sly Cooper, in quite some time. I’m personally still holding on to hope of an Ape Escape comeback or Capcom releasing a Dino Crisis remake in the RE Engine.

What do you expect to see from the showcase? You can catch it live next Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at 1pm Pacific Time.
