Don’t Nod, the studio behind Life is Strange, has announced their new game, and fans of choice-based narratives won’t have to wait long to play it.
Harmony: The Fall of Reverie puts players into the shoes of Polly, a clairvoyant who finds herself going up against the megacorporation MK in a near-future setting. With her gift, it is up to Polly to determine the future of humanity. This narrative-driven title has multiple endings as Polly, in the form of the goddess Harmony, is connected to the so-called “Aspirations of Humanity”. “Glory, Bliss, Power, Chaos, Bond, and Truth are wildly different entities with their own distinct personalities, goals, and opinions”. It sounds a little like the film Inside Out but on a global, humanity-altering scale. Polly can see into the future and determine which path is best for humanity via the Augural, “a game board and visual representation of Polly’s gift of foresight.”
Set in both a Mediterranean city and the dream world of Reverie, Harmony: The Fall of Reverie features a soundtrack by composer Lena Raine; and striking character art that is fully voice-acted and animated. By navigating life in both worlds as Polly and Harmony, the player will make essential choices and “unlock different paths at important crossroads that will change how the thread of the story unravels”. Determining which Aspiration will rule Reverie and “restore the delicate balance between the deities’ world and ours.”
Harmony: The Fall of Reverie is available on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in June.
