Sony Santa Monica Studio, the company behind God of War Ragnarök, has announced that its latest game will get a New Game Plus mode in Spring 2023. This means that God of War Ragnarök can be replayed and re-enjoyed with all your upgrades and late-game finds. This should breathe some new life into multi-award-winning game.
This news was announced by Santa Monica Studio via Twitter with the simple statement: “We know many of you have been asking, so we’re happy to confirm that New Game Plus will be coming to #GodofWarRagnarok in Spring 2023!” The tweet ended off by stating that they will be sharing more details once it gets closer to release.
This is, effectively, following the same general pattern that 2018’s God of War reboot followed by releasing a New Game Plus several months after release. That version of New Game Plus did the usual and allowed players to keep their upgrades and such, but it also allowed for new features, and some changed enemy attack patterns. We can expect something similar in God of War Ragnarök’s version of New Game Plus too.
As God of War Ragnarök has taken the gaming world by storm, with various awards and player support, this was likely always going to happen, and hopefully the team at Santa Monica Studio can throw some extra things into this iteration of New Game Plus to keep things nice and fresh with its triumph of a game that we called in our review: “A true sequel that surpasses almost everything that the previous game had and more.”
