Goat Simulator 3 Used GTA VI Footage, Got Taken Down

Goat Simulator 3 used some of the leaked GTA VI footage, but Take-Two and Rockstar quickly ordered it taken down.

Goat Simulator 3 is the latest game in the ragdoll-infused silliness that is the Goat Simulator franchise. The latest entry released on 17 November 2022, and it is technically the second game even though it is labelled as the third. As part of the silly game’s marketing, Coffee Stain North released a trailer that used some of the leaked GTA VI footage from several months ago, but Take-Two, the company that owns the Grand Theft Auto IP, immediately stepped in and ordered it taken down.

This was reported by Eurogamer, and the article explains what happened in the trailer itself, which no longer exists before of the beforementioned takedown order. The trailer showed a new NPC named Shaun, and he is being interviewed as part of the trailer. In that interview, he claims that he was in “some footage that was leaked a couple months ago." After he said this, the trailer showed an edited version of the leaked GTA VI footage, and Shaun was placed into it.

This may have been a small joke, but Take-Two clearly weren’t laughing because they issued a takedown and the trailer now no longer exists. There’s now simply a message saying that the video has been disabled by the copyright owner. This is no doubt because the big leak was a big deal to Take-Two and Rockstar. The companies took this leak so seriously that the person who leaked the footage has even appeared in court over it.

Rockstar and Take-Two are clearly very defensive of their game having leaked to the public in such an unfinished state, and a joke by some silly game like Goat Simulator 3 is clearly worth legal action to them. It was, obviously, just a joke, but those corporations are not laughing.
