Blacktail is an upcoming first-person action-adventure game from Polish development studio The Parasight and is published by Focus Entertainment. The game follows a teen girl called Yaga who, after being accused of witchcraft, is excited from her village Armed with her bow and an assortment of arrows, Yaga must now survive alone in the Slavic wilderness and discover her past.
Baba Yaga is a cannibalistic witch (sometimes depicted as an ogre) from Slavic folklore. She lives deep in the woods in a spinning hut that sits atop a pair of birds' legs. In recent popular culture, Baba Yaga has appeared in the likes of 2019s' Hellboy; Square Enix's Rise of the Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Blacktail hopes to put a new spin on the Baba Yaga character by exploring her origins and making her the protagonist of "a one-of-a-kind blend of intense archery combat and dark storytelling set in a vibrant fairytale world."
On her adventure, Yaga will be forced to make difficult choices, and it will be down to the player to guide her towards becoming either "the guardian of the woods or the terror that nightmares of made of."
Blacktail releases Winter 2022 for PC, Xbox X|S, and PlayStation 5
