Activision has announced when the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer betas will be available to play.
The first beta will be exclusive to PlayStation owners due to a long-term deal between Activision and Sony, with those who have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 able to experience the game first. They will get access on September 16th - 17th and Modern Warfare 2 will become open to all PlayStation players from September 18th to September 20th.
Meanwhile, those that have pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox, Battle.Net and Steam will be able to join PlayStation players on September 22nd - 23rd, with the multiplayer open to all players on all systems from September 24th to September 26th.
Players who have pre-ordered the Vault Edition will also get access to operators Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap at launch, the Season One battle pass and 50 tier skips, the Ghost Legacy Pack (filled with skins for the playable operator Ghost and weapon blueprints from Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone), and more.
Only one map has been revealed so far, the Marina Bay Grand Prix is a 6v6 map set in and around an urban race circuit. Whether the racing cars seen in the announcement trailer are an environmental hazard or part of the background is unknown.
Activision has also announced that Call of Duty Next will take place on September 15th. This "era-defining, livestream franchise event" will feature an in-depth reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer, what lies in store for Warzone, and how the battle royale will be translated to mobile platforms. With this event coming a day before the first multiplayer beta, it is likely that fans will learn which maps and modes will be available.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Battle.Net.
