Diablo Immortal has been downloaded over 8.5 million times in the two weeks since its release and has made more than $24 million according to the statistic site Appmagic (initially reported by PocketGamer.biz). The game is most popular in the United States, where 44% of the revenue has been made from 26% of the world's downloads.

Diablo Immortal was originally announced at BlizzCon in 2018 and is the eighth title (including expansions) in the long-running Diablo series. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase, Inc. for IOS, Android, and PC. Immortal is an MMORPG set between the events of Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo 3. Players choose one of six classes: Barbarian; Demon Hunter; Necromancer; Crusader; Monk; and Wizard, and work to become "champion of Sanctuary" by hacking, slashing, and looting their way across an isometric MMO landscape.

Despite the reported 8.5 million downloads and $24 million in earnings, Diablo Immortal has been met with a rocky reception, primarily from widespread criticism of its use of microtransactions. In May it was reported that Diablo Immortal would not be released in Belgium and the Netherlands due to both countries' placing restrictions on loot box systems, and now it is being reported that players could have to spend up to $110,000 (£88,000) (from Bellular News) to reach max level with their character. On the aggregate site MetacriticDiablo Immortal holds an abysmal User Score of 0.4, with many of the 5248 Negative Ratings directly referencing Blizzard, microtransactions, and Diablo Immortal's pay-to-win systems.

Diablo Immortal has had a mixed reception upon release. Commercially it has been a success, and reviews have praised the gameplay on both mobile and PC, but it has also angered many players with its predatory microtransaction model.
