CD PROJEKT RED, makers of Cyberpunk 2077, along with Netflix and Studio Trigger, introduce brand new promotional content for the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. The announcement includes a new key visual, a teaser trailer, and a production documentary. Additionally, it was stated that the program would debut in September of this year.
The new assets were unveiled during Netflix's Geeked Week, an event dedicated to geek culture shows, movies, and games currently available on the streaming platform and are set to arrive soon. The new assets include a teaser trailer and the first part of a series of behind-the-scenes videos. This marks the first time Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been shown off in motion.
The documentary not only includes commentary from key CD PROJEKT RED professionals engaged in the production regarding the creation of the show, but it also provides first-look stills and concept art, as well as an exclusive clip and scene analysis from the anime. Future behind-the-scenes videos will explore additional areas of the show, with added insight from members of Studio Trigger.
The program's protagonists, David and Lucy, are shown in the new key image for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, created by Yoh Yoshinari, the lead character designer for the show, and was unveiled as part of Geeked Week. In addition, the teaser trailer and the behind-the-scenes film include many shots of the duo and several other significant and minor characters from the program.
A youngster living on the streets of a city of the future fascinated with technology and body modification is the protagonist of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a stand-alone narrative told throughout ten episodes. Having everything to lose, he decides to remain alive by becoming an edgerunner – a mercenary criminal known as cyberpunk.
The show is developed by the famous game development team CD PROJEKT RED, with Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt creative talent participating in the production. Bringing the world to life in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a famed Japanese-based animation firm Studio Trigger, with Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) directing the program. Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) has been the show's chief character designer and executive animation director.
CD PROJEKT RED offered the premise for the film, and the task of creating the script was given to Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions 'The Elder') and Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series). Akira Yamaoka is responsible for composing the original soundtrack (Silent Hill series).
