Capcom, a renowned global developer and publisher of video games, made the announcement about Resident Evil 4 today at the digital event that was held by PlayStation called the State of Play. Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the original Resident Evil 4 published in 2005. Resident Evil 4, which has been given a new lease of life for the year 2023, stays true to the original game's spirit while using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine to bring contemporary gameplay, a rethought plot, and visuals that are vividly detailed.
Since the first game in the series was released in 1996, Resident Evil has sold over 125 million copies across the globe, making it one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. The original version of Resident Evil 4 was the game that introduced the Third-Person-Camera perspective to the Resident Evil series. Thanks to this fresh viewpoint, players were immersed in the excitement and tragedies that protagonist Leon S. Kennedy faced throughout his perilous rescue attempt.
The events of Resident Evil 4 pick up with protagonist Leon S. Kennedy six years after his ordeal in the biological calamity that occurred in Raccoon City. Because of his unparalleled tenacity, he was selected to serve as an agent who would report directly to the President of the United States.
Leon, who has successfully completed several missions in the past, is tasked to rescue the President's daughter, who was just abducted. Leon follows her to a remote town in Europe, but after first contact with the villagers, he realizes that they are possessed by an emotion that defies rational explanation.
This reinvented story of surviving in the face of overwhelming dread has returned to give a visually beautiful contemporary gaming experience that stays true to the promise made when the game was first released. Many crew members who worked on the creation of Resident Evil 2, which was released in 2019 and received widespread critical acclaim, are also making their comeback to look more into the nature of Resident Evil 4.
RE Engine takes the creative direction of the first game and amplifies it to create a darker and more unnerving tale than the one it told before. Fans and beginners alike will enjoy both the new and the familiar aspects of the game.
The release date for Resident Evil 4 is set for March 24, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
