Square Enix has released a new trailer for Project Athia, and official retiled the game to Forespoken. The trailer features actress Ella Balinska who voices and motion acts main character Frey. Balinska described the world of Athia as both beautiful and dangerous. Frey will use various magic abilities to take down monsters, explore, and survive. As Project Athia, Forspoken was teased in the middle of 2020. The game is being designed by Luminous Productions, the same team behind Final Fantasy 15. The game will be on both PlayStation 5 and PC and release in 2022.
The name “Forspoken” had been floating around roleplaying game fan sites and forums after Square Enix filed a copyright earlier this year. There was high speculation on if this was an original title, or related to an existing franchise. Because of the close timing to Final Fantasy 14’s live showcase, a major assumption was that it would be the subtitle of a patch or expansion. However, the new expansion for that game turned out to be Endwalker, despite no copyrights being filed in any region.
