Despite being nearly 13 years old, the Team Fortress 2 community is still alive and thriving, full of veterans and new players alike. The game has been called one of the most influential FPS games of its day, said to inspire team based games like Overwatch.

However, the Team Fortress 2 (TF2) community has been struggling with cheating players that ruin the game for almost every user. Fortunately, some tech-knowledgable fans have created their own solution to deal with these troublemakers.

Although TF2's parent company Valve has been consistently adding new content, in partnership with its extensive fanbase, neither have adressed the game's cheating problem, as it would post a daunting challenge. But with the new mods to the game, there may just be hope for TF2 to survive a bit longer.

Team Fortress 2, Characters

According to a Twitter post, the TF2 Community modders have created bots, labeled "extermination bot services", coded exclusively to seek out and kill cheating players, focusing them throughout the game. Although this solution virtually prevents cheaters from playing the game, it does have a few drawbacks.

At the moment, many TF2 matches consist of more bots than players, due to the shrinking, but still existent, playerbase. Even if these terminator bots eradicate cheaters from the game, there is a risk of game lobbies being flooded with bots. Many players are hoping that Valve comes up with a more concrete solution for this cheating problem, though these terminator bots are hard at work focusing cheaters.

Because TF2 is a free-to-play team game, many players are able to simply hop in and have fun, which is ideal. The game has even been described as one of the highest rated free PC games of all time, and it was many gamers' first team-game. However, cheaters will take advantage of this freedom to ruin games for all players.

No matter the class that you may prefer to play, cheating will hurt the entire team, if not the entire lobby. These terminator bots are your in-game friends, but be on the lookout for lobbies full of bots.
