The Outer Worlds Drops to Lowest Retail Price for PlayStation, Xbox Consoles

Just weeks before Obsidian's The Outer Worlds is set to release its first DLC, the base game receives a major discount from one retail store.

Nearly one full year since Outer Worlds released from Obsidian Entertainment, fans are still enjoying and exploring the vast environments, enjoying themselves across the game's universe, even customizing their gear to their heart's content. For those who have been putting off purchasing this masterpiece of an open world FPS, this might be your chance to pick up the base game.

As of August 18, retailer Walmart is selling PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Outer Worlds for $27, which is a discount of 45%, as the game usually costs $49.99. This price is the lowest out there, as many retailers are still sellling the game at full price, if not slightly less. Although it is undetermined how long Walmart will keep this deal alive, players should seize the opportunity to pick up this new game while they can.

Many fans are speculating that this price change comes because of the game's upcoming DLC (downloadable content), set to release across all systems in a matter of weeks. The event, titled Peril of Gorgon, will give players 6-8 hours of new story and gameplay, as well as new areas to explore.

The Outer Worlds, DLC, Peril On Gorgon

Based on the Peril of Gorgon's announcement trailer, the upcoming DLC will allow players to travel to the Gorgon Asteroid, in hopes of solving "the biggest mystery in the galaxy." Just as in the base game, this DLC will be full of new NPCs (Non-Player Characters) and a slew of moral decisions that can change the entire game.

Peril of Gorgon DLC will launch on September 4, 2020, and includes a level cap increase of 3, meaning that players can only reach level 33 in game. The DLC, while available for  the price of $14.99, will undoubtedly be a wild ride full of chaos and adventure within the Outer Worlds.
