December 3, 2020 marks the 25 year anniversary of Sony's PlayStation console, and a unique film is coming out to document the console's history. The piece, titled "From Bedrooms to Billions: The PlayStation Revolution", will be available on September 7, 2020, for physical and digital release on iTunes, Amazon, Vimeo and others.

The documentary, created by independent filmmakers Anthony and Nicola Caulfield, is a PlayStation specific version of their 2014 documentary "From Bedrooms to Billions" which detailed Britain's video game history since 1979. "The PlayStation Revolution" was announced as an anticipated project for the pair nearly 4 years ago, making this official announcement a welcome surprise.

PlayStation Consoles, History
The upcoming documentary will describe how PlayStation got its claim to fame, including details behind its best-selling games from PlayStation 1 all the way to the upcoming PlayStation 5. To further detail the console's progression over time, many well-known game creators and PlayStation employees will be interviewed, including:

Chris Kingsley (Rebellion Developments founder)
David Jaffe (God of War)
Fumito Ueda (Shadow of the Colossus)
Hideki Kamiya (Resident Evil)
Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid)
Ian Hetherington (Psygnosis founder)
Jason Kingsley (Rebellion Developments founder)
Jim Ryan (Sony Interactive Entertainment president)
Jun Takeuchi (Resident Evil, Street Fighter)

The official trailer details developer's first thoughts on the console, as well as some behind the scenes complications within classic games. The entire documentary will reportedly be told through interviews with the aforementioned PlayStation community, and details how the console took the world by storm. Even though there were some hiccups throughout PlayStation's history, the console kept bouncing back, setting the bar higher than ever for quality games.

Soon after the original release of "The PlayStation Revolution," new interviews will be released, including a Director's commentary, interviews with PlayStation game creators not referenced in the original film. Because this features will force the documentary to re-release, it may be more beneficial to purchase the film after all of the new interviews have arrived.

No matter which gaming console fans support, this upcoming title will be sure to interest any gamer, as it details the progress of classic games throughout history. Despite the domination of the video game world by Sega and Nintendo early on, PlayStation managed to survive and climb ahead for years to come. While Sega and Nintendo battled each other to make popular games, PlayStation grew on its own, creating a unique fanbase that created the system that we know and love today.
