'We Should Talk' introduces a dialogue system that offers a huge variety of choices within the 15 minute game.

Joining the world of so many point-and-click adventures or interactive dramas is one indie game, "We Should Talk." Although this adventure is around 15 minutes long, it has immense replayability because of its unique dialogue system.

In the game, players don the shoes of someone while out at a bar with friends, while their partner contacts them from home. While at the bar, the player will interact with a flirty bartender, an ex, a stranger, and the current partner. Each of these NPCs offers a unique conversation, and players are able to respond in a variety of ways, unlike any other in-game dialogue option.

While most games may offer players a choice between two or three responses, "We Should Talk" allows players to alter specific parts of their sentence, so that you can always say exactly what you mean. This helps players more easily construct their intentions, and not wind up with a confusing outcome based on misunderstanding an in-game, pre-made prompt.

Because of this playstyle, the 15-minute adventure offers 9 different endings, ranging from an aggressive approach to everyone to playing the understanding and comforting stranger. The choice is yours, and every choice you make can initiate a new ending.

Even if the dialogue changes may only seem slightly different from one another, there is a specific distinction in the English language, as well as in-game. For example, the choice of words can impact your gameplay in a different way, such as the distinction between "I'd like to be alone" and "Leave me alone." Because of the developer's attention to small details like this, they allow players to specifically state their intent to get a specific ending.

"We Should Talk" is definitely breaking new ground in the interactive story game genre, and might even be paving the way for future games to do the same. "We Should Talk" is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
