Just a few weeks ago, PlayStation revealed new gameplay, specs and teased upcoming titles for the PlayStation 5, which is currently set to debut during Holiday 2020. But just when players thought Sony was done with new reveals, one Tweet emerged, speculating a PlayStation 5 event in early August.

This rumored date comes from Robert Serrano, an industry insider who leaked the date of PlayStation's last showcase; it had been delayed to honor the death of George Floyd. According to the Tweet, Sony's upcoming event is scheduled to air on August 6, 2020. However, the Tweet does conclude with "*To be confirmed*", meaning that this date has yet to be officially announced, and could also change in the future. But as of right now, this date two weeks from now is the only suggested date for another event.

Although the Tweet did not mention any further information about the event, many rumors have been circulating for a while now, claiming that this August event would be a State of Play event. Such an event would suggest that Sony has more next-generation games, beyond Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon: Forbidden West and others revealed at the last event. Additionally, it is possible that PlayStation will reveal gameplay from their launch games on the PlayStation 5, but only time will tell.

If PlayStation is indeed planning to hold another event anytime in early August, players will undoubtedly be informed soon, either late next week or a few days before the stream launches. Whenever the event does air, fans can be sure that PlayStation will discuss more in-depth details about their upcoming console, with the possibility of a pre-order or even November release, based on release dates for next-generation games such as WatchDogs: Legion, and the fact that Xbox consoles usually release in November.

However, as with all rumors, this information needs to be taken with a grain or two of salt, and only time will tell when these consoles, their games, and a new PlayStation event will launch.
