Publisher Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite will launch simultaneously with the main release. The mouthful of a name indicates a form of demo version for the game originally brought out on Nintendo GameCube. This edition will be a free download on Nintendo Switch end PlayStation 4 (PS4).
Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite will feature the first three dungeons of the game, which can be played in singleplayer. Additionally, cross-play multiplayer is also tied to the demo, but not just for the three first locations. People who own Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition can link up with those who have downloaded the Lite version and complete all thirteen dungeons together. This means only one person needs to own a copy and host, so that the rest can join, which is always a generous way of managing multiplayer games. Moreover, saves from the Lite edition will carry over for those who cross over to the full release.
Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite will exist as a free-to-play app on Android and iOS, where the game is also headed. It's possible to purchase the rest of the dungeons as an in-app purchase.
Along with this news, Square Enix announced a few quality of life changes headed to Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition. For instance, parties can make use of a quick chat option. A minimap and user interface (UI) changes were applied as well and a new Magic timer should help players coordinate attacks better. Furthermore, to get the most out of your game, this version will have added difficulty settings, after you beat your first playthrough. Lastly, there will be over 50 new songs in the renewed soundtrack, which include rerecorded versions of original tracks.
