Yesterday members of the gaming press, and gaming personalities, began to receive strange promotional products from Activision. The most notable was a 200 piece puzzle that showed a strange new mask, which looked like it belonged in the Crash Bandicoot universe. This mask was first picked up in a promotional video for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled in 2019, though nothing ever came of its appearance until now.
Following this puzzle being shown on social media, press sites quickly picked up a leaked listing for Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time, a brand new game in the series, and one that features the very same mask.
The listing for the game was leaked by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, who also revealed the game's box art as you can see above. The description that accompanies the rating is as follows.
"Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli. The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible."
The game's title is obviously a play on words. Fans have been asking for a brand new mainline Crash Bandicoot game for years, and now they finally have it. Of course, the title also probably refers to the fact that this will be an adventure that sees Crash and his friends travel through time.
