What does Assassin's Creed Origins have to establish?

By Grayshadow, Posted 23 Oct 2017

Assassin's Creed Origins is days away and a lot of fans are excited to play around the game's new setting. Teeming with deadly enemies and items to collect Assassin's Creed Origin has a living world filled with secrets waiting to be unearthed. However, there are some things that this entry in the long-running series should include.

New Protagonist

Since Assassin's Creed 3 the only characters we've had 4 core games all with a mute unfaced character roaming the outside world in the current time. Since Desmond's death, Ubisoft hasn't given us a new protagonist to fill his shoes and it has become vexing. The last, a research analysis, was forced to join the organization at gunpoint but at the same time helping the Assassin Order steal sensitive information about the Templars. It's time for a new lead character.

What's is it All For?

We know that Juno seeks to enslave humanity using her New World Order plan and establish herself as ruler of all. But for most of the Assassin's Creed games, this has only been a minor inclusion. The core games since Assassin's Creed 3 have focused on characters in the Animus with Juno appearing during specific situations briefly. This means that fans have to play through an entire game to gain a small bit of information about the core story.

In the case of Rogue and Unity, 2 games to close a minor problem with Sage's skill. This has become frustrating since gamers have to play through an entire game to get a small piece of information regarding the overall story. The war between the Templar and Assassin's has always taken center stage since the franchise's debut in 2007 but when Assassin's Creed 2 released a goal was provided to comfront gamers that everything that transpires was for something larger. For now, we know that Juno intends to be reborn using the Phoenix Project but if the previous games are any indicator this won't happen until the ending of Origins.

The Modern Age

After Assassin's Creed III many of the modern day sequences have been plain fetch quests. Hack into terminals and locating specific objects, nothing compared to Desmond's situations. If Ubisoft does decide to give us time in the modern age, even if it's without a new protagonist, it should be much more varied. It's hard to go from Desmond's acrobatic feats and minor exploration to hacking from an iPad.

Assassin's Creed Origins launches on October 27th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
