Ask The Dalf #4

All we know is that he’s called The Dalf…

By fishdalf, Posted 11 Aug 2010

Some say that he once punched Steve Jobs in the face because he wouldn’t allow Flash Player on his products and that if you hold him a certain way his reception is dramatically compromised. All we know is that he’s called The Dalf…

On Tomb Raider 2, what’s the name of the second level?

I bet you don’t know!!
Umm, Level 2, or to humour you… Venice. Did you know there was a shortcut in that level? Allowing for a quick exit; rendering the level almost completely pointless. Much like your question.

Texted you the answer, loser.
I’m the one who provides the answers around here, loser.

Ur the loser!! U LOSER!!
Seriously, what is wrong with you!? Were you dropped on your head as a child!? Now get off my segment, I have some serious questions to deal with…

What do you think has more potential to be successful, both hardware wise and sales wise the PS Move or the MS Kinect?
Look, I’m going to be totally honest with you. For me, Kinect is going to fall flat on its face if Microsoft doesn’t buck their ideas up, and quickly. From what I’ve personally seen of the device and testing so far; the product just isn’t living up to the hype. It seems like you only get a decent response from the thing when in optimal conditions, both in terms of light and background noise. Now forgive me if I’m wrong here – and I’m sure MS would never official admit it – but isn’t this designed for casual gamers, and even children in mind? So making the thing so temperamental, intentional or not, seems a little suicidal. Don’t even get me started on the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of the Kinect bundle, which makes no sense whatsoever. It seems they have an inferior product to both of their competitors, yet they decide to charge more for it. I mean this is just my personal opinion, so take what you will from it, but I certainly won’t be rushing out to pick one up. Not until I see something to get excited about at the very least.

I guess to complete the question; I believe PlayStation Move has the better chance of surviving, but Nintendo really got the jump on these guys, and it’s going to be difficult, especially in the early stages, not to compare to what’s already out there on the market. Sony seems to be handling their product with a little more due care and attention though, which may just see them achieve results in the long term.

What game do you wish you could have your memory wiped of and replay to experience the magic all over again?
Not to sound too predictable, but I’d have to go with Mario 64. I remember sitting in my local game store watching the demo of Mario sliding down Cool, Cool Mountain over and over again. I was so mesmerized by the graphics and what a computer was truly capable of and knew I had to play it as soon as was physically possible. I was eventually bought it for Christmas (Nintendo sixty-fooooooooooour) and within hours my whole perspective of platform gaming was changed for life.

What is the release date for Dead Rising 2?
Well you didn’t specify where you’re from so I guess I’ll cover all bases. The game is now scheduled for release in Europe on September 24 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and September 28 for PC. North America will now see it on September 28 and Japan on September 30. Hope this clears everything up for you.

What do you think of the future of OnLive?
I’m not wholly convinced right now if I’m being honest. I just can’t personally see the service taking off like they’re hoping for, and I see it not only facing a few technical problems here and there, but also not gathering enough momentum to become sustainable over a long period. I could be totally wrong on this, but that’s how I currently feel.

Why do you think most gamers can’t find themselves a good sexy girlfriend?
So many jokes, so little time. There are obviously many variables to your question, way too many to cover here, but I suppose the main reason is insecurity. A little self-confidence goes a long way, and is all that is needed in order to enter a relationship. Not being a total weirdo also helps too, I suppose.

What is the easiest game you’ve ever played? Not including party and overly casualised titles.
Depends what you consider a casual title. If you don’t mind I’ll bend the question slightly and give you a game I find easy that the majority of other gamers tend to struggle with.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a game I find an absolute breeze but many seem to struggle with. A combination of poor stacking and failing to strike at the right moment are the most common shortfalls. When I play this game I see combinations of ‘beans’ all across the grid, and know how to link them together and clear the screen with a succession of chain reactions without thinking too much about it.

What is the hardest part of a game you’ve ever faced?
I’ve had so many absolutely infuriating experiences with video games over the years, but my most recent would have to be NANCY-MI847J in Tekken 6. The giant robot is a secret character boss that unlocks after certain requirements are met and takes up a large portion of the fighting area. The thing takes so many hits and when it decides to attack you’ll be destroyed within two or three hits, making it both unforgiving and hugely annoying. It must have taken me at least fifty replays to finally best the beast, but I eventually did, and it was a very rewarding experience.

Should I be ashamed if I play Hannah Montana: The Movie just to get a platinum trophy?
Unless you’re a young girl with aspirations of being a pre watershed pop-rock singer then the chances are you’re only playing it to trophy hunt. So yes, you should be ashamed. If you’re that desperate to push your collection to boost your stats then you have to face the humiliating consequences that come along with that.

*hopes nobody adds him on PSN*
