Man, Metro: Last Light is an awesome game. Its open world is a joy to go through, as possibilities are nearly limitless and still retain a heft challenge for anyone involved. And that atmosphere; that palpable, tense ambience that surrounds the dark tunnels; it’s so incredibly engaging. You can literally get lost in the world of Metro and scare off your pantaloons with some razor-sharp suspense moments. Even its scripted events keep you guessing and trap you in a helpless state, forcing you to fight for every stretch of survival.
The darkness in the game is more your enemy than anything else, which it uses wonderfully to trap players and make their imagination run wild, though it’s masterful sound effects don’t hurt either. It even finds ways to lure players in when it’s not actively demanding gameplay elements. Its world is filled with interesting lore and inhabitants, creating small pockets of bustling life in the catacombs of a nuclear holocaust. It doesn’t shy away from any adult material either.
