While I don’t claim to be some Call of Duty guru I do put some serious time into this game (nearly 300 hours and counting) and I would like to think I’ve learnt what works and what doesn’t in a given situation and thought I’d share some of this knowledge with you guys in the hopes of improving your class setup just a little bit. I also encourage you to share any setups you may have and I’d be happy to try them out in-game and see how they work for me and post back my findings.

It really annoys me when people say the Target Finder is over-powered in this game, yet nobody complained about Marksman in Modern Warfare 3, which pretty much did the same job. Okay, it shows the enemy in convenient red boxes, but it’s not like it automatically locks on to them for an easy kill. The Target Finder also has some downsides, especially in how much of the screen it takes up when you’re aiming down sight. I’ve chosen it for this class for a couple of reasons, the first being that it helps you to identify potential kills at longer ranges and the second being its slightly increased zoom when compared to your standard Red Dot sight.

With this class you want to maintain a safe distance from the enemy and pick them off before they even have the chance to see you. Your biggest threat here - besides someone flanking you and getting up close – is those dreaded snipers and people who are also using the Target Finder. Cold-Blooded as a second tier perk will keep you out of sight from other Target Finder users, as well as those snipers that opt for the Dual Band scope, and getting an upper-hand on these is one major key to success.

Adjustable Stock and Quickdraw become essential because of your limited movements with such a massive weapon. Combined with Lightweight in your first perk slot you’re combating those deficiencies and boosting your overall effectiveness. I still wouldn’t recommend running around in much capacity, but it helps the most when moving from one area to the next as the spawns change.

I like to run high Scorestreaks with this and my favourite is the Orbital VSAT – EMP System – Swarm combination, because the Mk 48 destroys entire groups of enemies with minimum effort. In case you didn’t know about this particular Scorestreak setup, once you get your Orbital VSAT; the EMP System should be almost guaranteed off of the assist points. Then with the combined assist points from both your Swarm will come quickly with little to no effort on your part. It really is a winning combination and if you use this setup, or a similar LMG setup then you’ll begin seeing the benefits over a brief period of time.

This setup is a little different in that it takes some time to become truly skilled at it, but with some practice you can really annoy the living daylights out of a team and bag yourself a very healthy score. I cannot count the amount of times I came top of the leaderboard with this exact class on my way to diamond camouflage for the Assault Shield.

The key things to remember are to stay away from large groups of enemies, to always stay in close quarter situations, and target areas where you know the enemy won’t be paying all that much attention to their surroundings. What I mean with the last point is scenarios where someone is laying down capturing a flag and you can sneak up behind them and bash them in the head without giving them time to react, or heading towards sniper spots where they’re aiming out of a window and you can get right up to them before they even know what’s hit them.

Ghost is equipped for obvious reasons as you don’t want people knowing where you are and running at you. Scavenger is there to keep your grenades and your axe in full supply at all times and Tactical Mask because when you’re stunning the enemy you don’t want to be hindering your own movement in the process. The most important perk of all with this setup though is Fast Hands, as this allows you to unleash your equipment or to switch to your pistol in the fastest possible time and that’s how you’ll get the majority of your kills.

If you try and attempt to run up to people and bash them with no assistance then you’ll rack up so many deaths it’s unreal, but if you lash out those concussions at every victim then your odds of taking them down increase exponentially. Give it a try. It might be a little tough to get used to at first, but you’ll have the biggest grin on your face the first time you take out multiple enemies from a building with this strategy. My record streak so far with this is fifteen and it’s the most fun I’ve had in Black Ops 2 thus far.

AN Awesome Class

Primary Weapon: AN-94

Tier 1 Perks: Ghost, Hardline
Tier 2 Perks: Toughness, Scavenger
Tier 3 Perks: Dexterity
Wildcard: Perk 1 Greed, Perk 2 Greed

The third and final one I have for you is a very solid and perk-heavy assault rifle class. This one is a jack of all trades in that it is great for taking down enemies in a number of situations. I usually bring this one out when spawn trapping the other team and position myself in an area where I can keep the optimum distance between me and them, which is not close enough to be bested by a submachine gun, but not too far that they can break the spawn trap.

The setup has both Ghost and a Suppressor to stay off the minimap at all times, because while I hold down a certain area I’m always moving to keep the enemy guessing. You never want to stay camped in a single spot for too long as that’s a sure-fire way of getting yourself killed. The Fast Mag attachment I feel is vital, because the closer you are to a combatant the faster you want to reload your weapon. Toughness and Dexterity allow your aim to remain straight and true when needed, and Scavenger helps the streak go on for longer so that you can reach those big Scorestreaks without having to pick up weapons from the ground.

I usually opt for streaks that go well with the theme of keeping the enemies contained in a single area, so a full-on assault from the Escort Drone, Lodestar and VTOL Warship would work well, or if you have trouble reaching those lofty heights you could perhaps settle with Counter UAV, Stealth Chopper and Escort Drone. The great thing about this combination is the game allows for both choppers to be in the air simultaneously for ultimate effect.

Overall it’s just a very solid pick-10 with no need to worry about equipment or secondary weapons. It’s just one gun with all the perks and attachments doing the work for you, and the majority of the time that’s how I like thing’s to be so I can focus on the main tasks at hand – killing and winning.
