So here we have it, the moment you’ve been waiting for – the announcement of our Game of the Year 2011. All of our ten winners for each category are truly superb games, but there can be only one overall winner.
Many great things have already been uttered about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in our countdown and we could sit here praising it until the cows come home, but instead of another write-up here we thought we’d provide you with some review diaries and the full review from our Senior Editor and very good friend, Daav Valentaten.

i've never play any of this game series.. will it effect when i play skyrim???
@patrickjc: Not noticeably, but you really should start playing it. Even though Oblivion and Morrowind are pretty great in their own merit, I'd say start with Skyrim. You won't regret it.
agreed. game was toooooo well made.
@patrickjc not at all. if you like reading the game has a zillion books with mentions of the past games. but completely unnecessary. The story of each elder scroll is pretty much stand alone.
@Kasp_Falco Oh? Care to elaborate? I'd love to hear some arguments on this.
Well-deserved. Skyrim is a typical example of a game that is so much more than the sum of its parts. People have been trying to discredit the game later for pointing out its flaws and shortcomings in, well, an admittedly wide array of areas. But when all elements come together - exploration, combat, music, art direction, etc. - that's when it becomes the magical experience that everyone's talking about.
That doesn't mean that Skyrim doesn't get some individual aspects completely right as well, though: the art direction is phenomenal, and the dungeon design is already really good this time around.
So in conclusion: not the most exciting choice, but really, this game just outright deserved it.
I totally agree with this, if you haven't played skyrim yet it is totally worth every penny and should buy it asap, truth is i really want to see how anyone can top this.
