Call of Duty is one of the most definitely and revolutionary franchises of all time. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare set the standard for competitive progression in multiplayer and started the military shooter craze. The franchise has not slowed down, with a new game every year and reaching over $1 billion USD during the pandemic. However, this franchise has had some black sheep. We are currently living in an age of gaming where publishers live under the mantra "We will fix it later". Titles like Fallout 76, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, WWE 2K20, and recently Cyberpunk 2077 are prime examples of this new AAA gaming outlook. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is also one of these games, launched broken and constantly crashed. The game suffered from major technical issues but most importantly Activision had the gall to ask for $70 for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of the game.
The game functions now but the state it was released was unacceptable. Charging gamers to upgrade and most importantly releasing it in such as state was simply unacceptable. This was peak Activision greed as other developers delayed their projects to give developers breathing room during a global pandemic Activision released a broken game and overcharged for it.
