There are a lot of incredible video games set to release this 2019 such as the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III and Resident Evil 2 2019. However, there are some games that look incredible but also have us nervous in their execution. Here are the top 5 games we are worried about releasing in 2019.

5. Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order

Despite the massive improvement made to Titanfall 2, including a much more robust and addicting multiplayer mode and a single-player full of thrilling moments the game didn't perform well since it released in the competition of Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Titanfall publisher EA's Battlefield 1. While EA has done a horrible job marketing their games, the most recent example being Battlefield V, many are worried that Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order may fall due to EA's questionable practices.

Remember, the last Star Wars game to release from EA, Star Wars Battlefront 2,  caused massive backlash resulting in government intervention around the world to investigate the predatory practices of loot boxes. EA has also been known for promoting heavily premium free-to-play systems within their full price releases, removal of single-player campaigns, locking content behind microtransactions, and using loot boxes to control progression. Despite Respawn Entertainment consisting of former Infinity Ward developers, the people who set standards to multiplayer progression and started the military shooter craze, EA's practices have many gamers worried that this next Star Wars games will repeat the same issues caused by EA's monetization first policies. 

4. Crackdown 3

The Xbox One has been lacking in exclusives since its debut and that hasn't changed. Sony took off in 2018 with acclaimed releases such as God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man while Nintendo has skyrocketed ahead from the Wii U's flop thanks to the Nintendo Switch's incredible library of first-party games. Crackdown 3 was supposed to break Microsoft's slump but after many delays since its announcement back in 2015, some were worried it would become the next Scalebound. Now Crackdown 3 is set to release this February 2019 but the gameplay has been less than stellar.

The footage shown recently does convey that this will play like Crackdown but that's underwhelming considering the juggernaut titles released by Sony and Nintendo. It looks like another standard open-world game and with Microsoft's competition delivering outstanding titles average isn't going to be enough. Especially when you're releasing alongside Metro Exodus and Anthem.

3. Shenmue III

Shenmue's first 2 games released on the SEGA Dreamcast and developed a strong cult following. Many were excited to hear when the third-installment was announced back in 2015. Since then Yu Suzuki has been updating backers for the successful Kickstarter project with images and small cutscenes but no real gameplay. It also didn't help that the game has been delayed twice. While many are still excited to get the third game in the series there are many legitimate concerns of whether Shenmue III will live up to expectations or even release on time.

2. The Division 2

The Division wasn't a bad game but when it released it suffered a lot of issues that first franchise releases from Ubisoft suffered from. Repetitive gameplay, barren worlds, and a lackluster story. This happened with the first Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs but the sequels to those titles improved on all those issues. It's likely that The Division 2 will do the same but the trailers have 1 problem, they promised the same things not provided in the first reveals for The Division. Looking back it's clear that Ubisoft is promising the same game that was promised in The Division. Perhaps the beta will prove us wrong but for now, it's best to remain skeptical. 

1. Anthem 

BioWare's reputation was shot after the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda and considering EA's reputation many remain on the fence about Anthem. BioWare has been actively communicating with their community about the game, steadily releasing information about the title, but it doesn't mask the hesitation gamers have with EA. The footage released does covey a deeply customizable experience with a wide open world full of activities to take part in but it lacks the story rich atmosphere that is known from BioWare.

It doesn't help that many major employees such as Drew Karpyshyn, senior writer for BioWare's beloved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the first 2 Mass Effect games, has made many fans wonder about Anthem's quality. Coupled with EA's controversial reputation for extremely monetizing games and their desire to support the game using the "live-service" method has many gamers worried. After all, very few games have been able to successfully accomplish this with Monster Hunter: World being the best example and Activision Blizzard's Destiny being the worse.
