A Podcast and a Contest

A riddle for all the NoobFeeders out there.

By Tressilate, Posted 07 Mar 2011

David Gabriel and I, Joshua McCaul, have a riddle for all the NoobFeeders out there:

What do you get when you cross Satoru Iwata, Minecraft, Tim Schafer, Red Dead Redemption, Mega64, Game Announcements, Previews, Discussion Panels and lots of tech with two NoobFeed writers?

The answer, of course, is NoobFeed’s very first episodic podcast!

Yes it’s true, NoobFeed does indeed have its very own podcast is embedded below, is currently available for download on zshare, and 4shared in mp3 format. It is also coming to an iTunes page near you!

In our first episode, David Gabriel and I break down the Game Developers Conference, providing insight and commentary on Nintendo President Satoru Iwata’s Keynote Speech, the 13th Annual IGF Awards, the 11th Annual Choice Awards, the developer discussion panels, videogame previews and the latest NoobFeed Contest.

This contest, which is more thoroughly explained in the "The Podcast Contest" Post" located in the NoobFeed Competition forum, includes two elements as we are looking for users to submit suggested names for our podcast as well as original music to use as an intro theme. All participants will receive a participation emblem, and to the winners will go the spoils.

Additionally, "The Official NoobFeed Podcast Thread" has been posted in the Media Portal forum and is open for your comments, questions and suggestions. It will also be a place where the NoobFeed staff will make podcast-related announcements, and additionally includes a full episode list.

Happy listening!

Joshua McCaul, NoobFeed.

  • Awesome show, very good dialogue.

  • @Andrew We are constantly looking at making positive addiitons to the stie, and we hope that this one works out as well as we'd like it to. So far so good so thanks!

@monkeyfeed Thanks mate, hope you enjoyed it :)

@Daavpuke Thanks, and well we're excited to have a three-person Daav-induced pannel on the next show!

  • Nice! Can't wait for the next one. :)

  • Good work both of you. It was really good. I'm not just saying to inspire you. David's voice was a little low but clear at the later part of the recording. And, in the end you both just kinda stopped without saying goodbye. lol. But worth listening to it. Very good conversation.

How for the contest. Two emblems is what you said exactly for the winner, right Tressilate :D

And, @azn_pride : You'll always be an inspiration to me :)

  • @canana Thanks, you should see if you can get your microphone working and join in sometime :)

@Sleven Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed. And yeah, David's a soft speaker, but he's got a lovely voice! Oh geez looks like I cut it a tad short, oh well -- we said goodbye in our hearts? And yes the winner will get two emblems -- one for taking part (which everyone gets), and their own winner emblem. In fact you get 3 if manage to win both contests!

  • Great podcast guys! Dialogue was brilliant! :)

    Posted Mar 07, 2011

  • Sweet :D But is the music has to be created by my own? Because we can't suggest music created by others, it'll go against the piracy.

And, David has been my idol for many years now. I love him, respect him and follow him in many ways. It was really nice to hear him talking and I agree that his voice is nice.

  • I tried to listen to this but I make it a practice to only listen to gaming podcasts that feature the voices of sexy foriegn supermodels. As you might guess, I don't listen to any podcasts. Glad you guys decided to do this though. And I think the podcast should be called The Noobcast.

  • Thanks for the feedback guys! Much appreciated. Though personally, I think my speaking skills need improvement. Hopefully the next one will be better :)

    Posted Mar 07, 2011

  • @caityful Thanks, glad you enjoyed!

@Sleven Yeah it has to be original music or else we can be sued, and that's no fun. Lol and glad to know that David has a fan!

@Setho10 So I'm not hot enough for you? Typical :P

@azn_pride Indeed, feedback is awesome :)

  • Just a little fine tuning and having a script on hand would make this podcast very very competitive. You two did very good. I'm very much looking forward to the next podcast and all the best to everyone who will take part in the contest.

  • Excellent work guys, looking forward to the next one. We will definetly have more formal integration for podacasts with the major site upgrade that is in development phase right now. Great work.

    Posted Mar 08, 2011

  • @Amaya Thanks and thank you for setting up the facebook page for the contest!

@serbsta Glad you're looking forward to it, and yes, the formal integration will be fantastic -- really looking forward to it :)

I feel that the podcast needs at least 3 people

Just wondering, did you guys record this in the same room or did you record over the phone?
