Top 10 Best Weapons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Here are the best weapons found only in the SoTE DLC!

By nine_toes, Posted 27 Jun 2024

Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is absolutely massive. The amount of content in just this DLC rivals that of many AAA games, and that does not mean it’s all barren content either. Among the numerous things this DLC has added, there are over 100 new weapons to try out. We’ve come up with 10 of the best weapons you can find in The Realm of Shadow based on the metric of damage output, how fun they are to use, and how cool they look, of course.

Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

The Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword is a colossal sword that primarily scales with Strength and Arcane. The weapon’s skill, White Light Charge, propels you forward, dealing damage across a wide area; a burst of white lightning can then be unleashed, destroying foes in a smaller AoE.

This weapon has high multipliers on its light and heavy attacks and this unique skill that scales on Arcane which makes it a strong option for Strength/Arcane builds. The charge forward makes it excellent for getting close to the enemy after dodging or after they have moved. Plus, the jagged edges on the stone body of the sword make it look stunning. I think the sword would go along great with the Black Knight’s Cavalry Armor Set.

Where to find: Upon examining the altar at the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past, the weapon becomes available.

Poleblade of the Bud

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Poleblade of the Bud

Poleblade of the Bud is a halberd with Strength/Dexterity/Arcane scaling whose skill, Romina’s Purification, deals damage that scales well on Arcane and causes Scarlet Rot buildup. When you use the skill, you imbue the weapon’s blade with scarlet rot, go up in the air, and do 2 sweeping attacks with decently large AoE.

Due to its tri-scaling, you can use this weapon with just about any bleed build and it can even be used with a build catered towards Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword. Aesthetically, the red accents on the blade of the largely black halberd and the butterflies that appear make it look especially elegant.

Where to find: Trade the Remembrance of the Saint of the Bud to Enia to acquire this weapon.

Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Dragon Hunter's Great Katana

Shadow of the Erdtree has added several new great katanas that are extremely fun to use. Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana is one I personally love because it, as the name implies, deals extra damage against dragon enemies. It’s the skill, Dragonwound Slash, that gets this bonus. When you use the skill, you launch yourself upwards and to a frontflip slash down at whatever’s in front of you.

This makes it ideal for beheading dragon enemies, and boy is it good at chopping heads. This weapon is able to take off over half the health of dragons’ with just one skill towards their heads. This great katana scales on Strength and Dexterity and it causes bleed build-up so it may be worthwhile to spend some points in Arc as well. The concept of a weapon that is designed specifically to hunt dragons is badass and this weapon can hold its own against other foes as well.

Where to find: This weapon is dropped by the Ancient Dragon-Man located in the Dragon's Pit.

Spear of the Impaler

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Spear of the Impaler

Spear of the Impaler is the very weapon held by Messmer, one of the most challenging bosses in the DLC. It’s a Great Spear that scales primarily with Dexterity and Faith, with some scaling with Strength as well. The skill, Messmer’s Assault, unleashes two roundhouse sweeps at base, and a few lunges and ground slam that spawn spikes to go up in an AoE around you based on additional input.

Similar to its previous owner, the weapon deals fire damage and scales on Fai on its skill. It also has a unique heavy attack that causes the spear to be thrown, and when fully charged, it creates a magma AoE where it lands. Overall, this is an extremely cool weapon with tremendous damage output.

Where to find: Trade the Remembrance of the Impaler to Enia to acquire this weapon.

Euporia

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Euporia

Now, Euporia is one weapon that was initially almost removed from the game. It is a Twinblade with a very unique gimmick. The ends of the blade are dark, but as you attack enemies who are not undead, your weapon will start to glow in two phases, with each phase changing the way your skill behaves. The skill, Euphoria Vortex, makes your weapon do a spin-to-win attack in front of you and deals holy damage.

When you reach stage one of making your blade glow, small projectiles are added to your skill. With the final stage, your skill shoots out continuous beams that deal massive damage. With how much damage it is able to put out in a short amount of time when fully stacked, it makes sense why this weapon was nearly removed. Euporia scales equally on Strength, Dexterity, and Faith and its playstyle revolves around(no pun intended) getting stacks and using the skill from a distance to absolutely demolish health bars.

Where to find: You can find the weapon at the Belurat Tower Settlement after reaching endgame.

Rellana’s Twin Blades

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Rellana's Twin Blades

Rellana’s Twin Blades is in fact not a twinblade, but rather two different blades that come with quad scaling. This is another one of my personal favorites because of the quick move set and the skill, Moon-and-Fire Stance, which has two different attacks based on your input.

After assuming a ready stance with your skill, do a light attack unleash light waves similar to that of Moonveil, or do a heavy attack to perform a spinning move that engulfs the area around you in flames. The weapons scale on Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Faith and has great damage output alongside incredible versatility given how many options you have.

Where to find: Trade the Remembrance of the Twin Moon Knight to Enia to acquire this weapon.

Death Knight’s Twin Axes

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Death Knight's Twin Axes

The Death Knight’s Twin Axes is a pair of axes that scales with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith. Its skill, Blinkbolt: Twinaxe, is extremely cool because you blink forward and deal damage when you light attack with it and does a spinning attack forward when you heavy attack with the skill.

All of this is done with a spectacle of crackling lightning around you and you deal bolt damage. In my opinion, this is the cooler gold damage(compared to holy damage) and it goes along great aesthetically with golden knight-themed builds.

Where to find: In the Fog Rift Catacombs, you receive the weapon for defeating the Death Knight boss.

Shadow Sunflower Blossom

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Shadow Sunflower Blossom

Shadow Sunflower Blossom is this massive sunflower that you swing around to deal massive damage. It is a colossal weapon that scales primarily with Strength and Faith. Its skill, Shadow Sunflower Headbutt, slams the flower on the ground and flattens your foes. You do two more slams with additional input. Being part of the strength gang has never felt better as with this weapon you get to wave around a big sunflower and deal massive damage.

Where to find: Trade Scadutree Avatar's Remembrance to Enia to acquire this weapon.

Rakshasa’s Great Katana

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Rakshasa's Great Katana

Rakshasa’s Great Katana is another katana that stands out in the DLC. It scales on Strength and Dexterity, and it causes bleed build-up making it a good idea to spend some points on Arc as well. Its attacks reduces damage negation of foes multiplicatively as well.

Its skill, Weed Cutter, has you swinging your blade horizontally in two quick swipes and it is very spammable due to its stagger potential. It has considerable damage output, the unique effect is very strong and the weapon itself has solid reach. You can run this weapon in any bleed or quality build.

Where to find: Found by defeating Rakshasa in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum.

Bloodfiend’s Arm

Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC, Best Weapons, Screenshot, Bloodfiend's Arm

Need a hand? Bloodfiend’s Arm has got you covered. This is a gnarly colossal weapon that is literally ripped off from a defeated bloodfiend. While it may seem unassuming at first, you would be surprised as this has the highest bleed build-up in the game.

With full arcane, bleed scaling, and maxed weapon level, just one heavy attack is enough to inflict blood loss on your foes. You can make bosses’ health bars disappear with a build like that. With it being a colossal weapon, you want to have a decent investment in Strength as well.

Where to find: Defeat Bloodfiend enemies wielding this weapon to obtain it.
