Developer Respawn Entertainment has revealed that the latest season for Apex Legends, Season 5 Fortune’s Favor, has seen the best launch of any season in the game to date.
The new season has seen more new players come to the game than ever before and has caused the highest player retention for a season in its short history. Users are now playing for longer sessions every day, driving up not only the number of matches on the go at once, but the number of people across each game mode too.
Apex Legends Season 5 Fortune’s Favour unravels the overarching story of Apex Legends even further. The game’s Director, Chad Grenier, explained in a statement that there is no greater thrill than expanding the Apex Legends story, and seeing how fans react to it.
As with every season, Fortune’s Favor brought about a big map change. Now Skull Town has been decimated, and Grenier describes how this opened up an opportunity to have a lot of fun with the world and characters.
It’s the lore and Legends, the characters in the game, that set Apex Legends apart from other battle royale games. Respawn Entertainment has shown its prowess for storytelling in the past with both God of War and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Apex Legends is no less impressive or engrossing.
As the game’s latest season progresses, even more fans are likely to get involved and take advantage of the new features on offer while they explore new stories within the Apex Legends universe.
