Mario skins racoons!?!?!?

By RedWolf37, Posted 21 Nov 2011

Hello again friends.  Just bought Super Mario 3D Land for my Nintendo 3DS.  I should tell you that this game is amazingly fun!  Can’t avoid feeling like I am playing a Mario game that is new and fresh!  I’m very glad to see the Tonooki suit is back!  It's one of my most favorite power ups of all time in Mario games.  It’s an amazing power up.  But what most people don't think about is this animal rights group called PETA.  PETA does not like the suit and thinks that Mario is cruel to animals.  PETA gets this idea that Mario skins raccoons and wears the suit.  This really got me mad.  Here we have an organization who says they save animals yet they boundlessly slaughter a ton of cats and dogs because they can't find shelters!?  These are the guys who will defend a lobster to death but won't save a dozen dying cattle?  For starters Mario does not slaughter raccoons.  Mario does something with leaves and like magic he wears a costume that looks like a raccoon.  Why does PETA have a fascination with video games all of a sudden!?!?!  Animals have never ever been harmed in the making of video games!  Where we're these jerk offs when Duck Hunt came out!?  What about Metal Gear Solid series?  A good example is Snake Eater!  The title says it all!!  What about the Modern Warfare series?  Battlefield?  Bloody Roar?  Resident Evil?  Halo: REACH?  The Caleb hunting series that nobody plays?

"Whatch out mom and dad!  This guy is bad news!!!"

Look I love animals!  Cats are my personal fovorite!  I love kitties!  But I also support the right for hunting animals like deer, buck, and ducks.  Deer meat is better for you than just cow or ground beef.  But a few years ago in my home area of Denver CO, there where many blizzards.  There was a blizzard every weekend legit!  I kid you not.  I was listening to a classic rock station 103.5 The Fox. (Insert animal pun here.)  Many cattle where being killed because of the cold and hay was unavalible.  We don't use cow just for meat, but cheese, milk, and everything dairy.  Cows were dieing and the radio stations host wanted to raise money for the cows.  So they called PETA, and were turned down.  PETA refused to help the cows.  The at time governer of Colorado governer Bill Owens called PETA a bunch of "loosers."  PETA claimed that the blizzards were "an act of god and they can't do anything about it."  If you don't believe me you can click the link here and find out for yourself.

"That dog still gives me nightmares....."

I don't know why PETA has started after the game industry.  But I can guarantee you, no animals are ever harmed in the making of any video games.  I think PETA is just going after somebody because they're bored as all hell.  This for me has taken on a whole new extreme and I personally want to see these guys and tell them how it is.  Maybe PETA needs to go after the bastards killing elephants for their tusks instead of picking on the poor game industry.  No animals we're harmed in the making of this blog.  (Insert pun one more time.)

  • Although not commonly known, there is in fact an animal in Japan called the Tanuki. In the Western world it is referred to as a raccoon dog, but it is it's own animal. Not that it gives any more validation to PETA, but you might want to make sure you get your facts straight before going on a rant. If you want more info on the legends behind the Tanuki (it has a great spiritual history in Japan) then take a gander at the Studio Ghibli filim Pom Poko.

  • All I see is PETA needed some attention from the gamers. It's free PR if you look at this way.

First time ever I've heard about PETA is when they made this allegation. Amaya has made a good point out here.

I called it how I saw it.  I knew tanuki was a mythical creature, I just didn't consider it a racoon dog.  The way it looks im my eyes is straight up racoon with the way Mario wears the suit.  You really should check out that radio interview on 103.5 the fox.  If I could dig up the audio, you would seriously look PETA as a big contributor to hypocracey.  But read the article anyway that is linked it covers the whold blizzard deal with the cows in Denver.

Well they most deff. got my attention.  I think this could really come back to bite them in the behind.  For 30 years and counting Mario has had rivalries with The likes of Donkey Kong, Bowser, Gombas, Koopas, Octopi, and Fish.  All animals need I remind you.  Now They're just starting to complain?  You try to tackle a legend and you will get burned.

LOL!!!! That's a good one.  I was thinking more along the lines of save the Las Plagas bugs from Resident Evil 4.  I'm surprised though, Sonic saves animals from Dr. Eggman (Robotnick) and not once Sonic is awarded a dang medal!  PETA needs to show Sonic some justice!!  LOL!!!

  • I don't think their campaign will go too far Chris. So I'm not at all worried.
