Noobfeed 2.0

By serbsta, Posted 05 Mar 2011

I think we've all come to love and cherish the look and feel of our beloved website, especially those of us who have been here since its inception. Some of the staff and I have discussed the future of the website, and we are definitely heading in the right direction, despite some hurdles (which were to be expected) along the way. We've begun work on a total redesign of the website, from head to toe. That's right, were painting the walls and putting in some fresh furniture. We've got an excellent team of writers who do such hard work, an excellent team of administrative and marketing staff who give it their all to help the site grow, giving everythign a nice fresh coat of paint will perhaps help this friendly environment grow even further.

As with every step we take with the website, we want your opinions, what are your thoughts for the future look and feel of the website? Colors? Samples? Layouts? Structures? You name it, you post about it, you describe it, you draw it, you link it... and we'll consider it all and try to form a design which suits everything best. We'll post updates about this as the program progresses.

Further, expect the first of our monthly newsletters in your email inbox at the end of next week as we'll be giving you a quick overview of what's happening in the gaming world and what the Noobfed writers are reporting. Community highlights, featured videos and more!

  • I loved the black and white template designs that were released a while back.

  • is this for real O_O and i didnt know we got news letters but wow were heading forward

  • Sites like IGN, Gamespot, Giantbomb has attractive layouts. But it's the user friendliness that matters the most. Any layout which is simple and precious will be good. And I've been suggesting for the newsletter for quite a while now. It's nice to know that you are ready to send them out.

  • Sometime I feel it's too static even without the games database. We need that feature to truly develop the site for the gamers. As for the layout, I'm not really much concerned. I'm here for the content and community.

  • As @Sleven noted the Games Database is a must, and well I actually rather like the current colours. A little more friendly user interphase and featuring reviews on the main page would make me a happier camper.

  • Tanya designed the white one long ago, I think that's in the list already. If not, I want that.

  • adding passion to a web site can be known even if it is kept simple, i like your prespective:) and also agree and love some of the things that Amaya has mentioned.

  • The white design was a very neat idea. Here's the thing. An option can created for people to choose the current one and the white one back and forth. Adding game database will allow the users to track down the games very easily. As far as I know its difficult to access game reviews and people hardly comment on reviews over there. So accessibility is the key issue here. Speaking of accessibility, the news feed system like in Facebook is quite a demanding option, which will allow the site to be more dynamic. Also some features could be added to make the interactions between users a lot more. This will make the NoobFeed community stronger.

@EliteEdge : Since we'll be working on a complete new layout, that template was not put in for use.

  • The content on this site has been blowing up in a hurry. It would be cool for there to be a little bit of a more user-friendly way to get to it all, particularly the stuff that isn't currently featured. A full-site search engine would be awesome, one that would be visible on all pages. And I'm sure it's already being considered, but a front page link to the featured review or even multiple reviews would be cool, too, and maybe a place for users to rate games on the review pages.

Either way, this site is awesome and is getting better all the time.

    Posted Mar 07, 2011

  • As mentioned a couple of times, a games database would be brilliant.

  • Need to add a better way to subscribe to posts. There should be a feed for each category, as well as a feed for everything.

    Threaded comments.

Speed optimizations (current site is slow)

Login form that is compatible with lastpass

  • @Ron still an awesome white layout, or blue and back would be cool :D

    Posted Mar 17, 2011

  • Maybe a way to change the colors on the page layouts? i mean i love the current colors...but if we could switch them around that would be cool. I give my vote for the games database thats going to be put in anyways...

  • actually i'm rather attracted the the kind of dark colors we use now, the reason is, whenver i come on NF i feel mellow, no colors that are bright an annoying. The blues we use give a sense of calm and relaxing, is probably the easiest system for the eyes i'v ever had. I enjoy it, but should we change colors, personally stick to the darker shades. GS has the bright yellows GB has Black and red, i say stick to blue, maybe go green, or even go purple if you make it work without any type of, eye pain or "lol pimp" comments. But, making the layout "option oranted" Like pick between this blue or a grey silver one, will deff make it loved more.

(sorry for only seeing this now. but thanks for the Marketing Shout out)
