Gaming Tour

By KmeloMigs, Posted 09 Jan 2011

In all gaming history, there a few moments in a gamer life that a simple thing could change everything, Just like when Mario jumps out in Mario 64 and you think “ OMG! What happened to my beloved Mario? How can I play this game in a 3D world?” and every game since then is a Mario 64 copy…

Or when you play the first minutes of GTA 3, have you take the car and go faster then ever to your destination, or, I believe, mostly of the gamers probably have done, take the car, take a ride around the blocks, change to a few radio stations, possibly kill someone “accidentally” and saw your first wanted star, the police chases you, everything goes wrong, your car is now on flames…OMG! My car blows away and I died… and now I’m going to my destination  since the mission have failed… and since then, GTA have changed gaming forever.

Or when you played Need for Speed Underground first time and you now could put a Flame Sticker on it and make the car the way you wanted, even  the lamest of changes takes you to the main menu and you take a few minutes looking TO YOUR CAR, now you have a personal car, not a yellow one, or a blue, green, black car, mine has blue neon lights, tons of stikers and pearlescent paint… How many times when a friend came home have you presented YOUR car to him? And every racing game since then…

A simple death in FF7, Played Samba de Amigo ( Dreamcast ) with Maracas? First online experience on a console, First time in Guitar Hero 1? Samus Aran is a woman? Wii Motion Controller first experience, Pitfall or Enduro ( Atari ) have a end? For you, tell me a game that surprises you while you playin’ and why…

I don't think there is a single gamer who hasn't experienced such thing.

  • Even a guy who play only sports games, like Madden or FIFA has your big moments, like waay back 2000, with Dreamcast 2K series, playing online for the first time, Phantasy Star Online... Samba de Amigo was one of the first games who worked with a motion controler. You don't have to go back in time, The famous Autolog in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, is a copy from Blur's friends system...

  • I never looked back this way before. Nice thoughts.

  • lol so true.

  • Today, with so many games coming every day, the normal gamer don't pay attention to details, they do what the trophy or achievement want you to do, and many things are missed, cause we don't have much time to pay attention. Many players do things almost mechanically, take your horse to a ride in the sunset in RDR, for example; change the camera angle and see the beauty in action, but mostly didn't pay attention to this cause there are no trophies to change a camera angle...

  • great read. i love when i'm reminded of fond moments.

one of my best gaming experiences ever has to be the first time playing Shadow of the Colossus. and i don't mean just the first boss. i mean the entire playthrough. never before had a game caused so many different feelings. sadness, joy, fear, exhilaration, discovery, insignificance, power, courage... even those calm moments wandering the huge world were a blessing to the mind and soul, a comforting feeling of safety and well deserved rest before the next challenge. everything about the game is built to create feelings.

it's for those reasons, and many others, that i don't hesitate to call Shadow of the Colossus the best game ever made.

  • @BrunoBRS - só um brasileiro pra entender outro!

That's the point, BrunoBRS, i can tell you that i never finished Shadow of the Colossus, never. A strange felling of "Why should i kill those creatures?" roaming in my head, and i stoped the massacre at the 4th Colossi, and then i start travelling the world looking for fruits and lizard tails, when i got all the collectibles the game was over for me,

It's strange not finish a game, but for me, kill all the beasts just to save a woman, was not an easy task, travelling around the world makes me think in all the possibilities, and then i choose to live the world, not to kill...

And all of these playin' a game...

  • I remember thise neon lights under cars in underground and my first online experience very well. Its good to see how much progress games have made in such a short time.

  • i also have play shadow of collosus and i thought it was just so epic the first time you brought down the giants. i had no clue of what the story line is but many games are just prestiegious to play.
