Activision recently unveiled their latest iteration of the Guitar Hero franchise, titled Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. This rhythm game will include an all-new Quest Mode, Quickplay +, a re-designed guitar controller, and well over 500 tracks taken from Guitar Hero’s huge library of songs.

The game’s Quest Mode will focus heavily on story, which will be spearheaded by KISS front man, Gene Simmons. He will provide several voices for the game, including the role of the narrator.

"It was an honor and privilege to narrate Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, even more so, to voice the Demi God. From the God of Thunder to the Demi-God, how cool is that..." remarked Simmons.

In Warriors of Rock, players will go on a journey to save rock-n-roll. To do so, they must help the Demi-God of Rock in the fight against “The Beast” to save the world from ultimate destruction. Players will be able to use different combinations of instruments to their liking.

Quickplay + will feature 13 all-new gameplay challenges for every track included in Warriors of Rock – as well as downloadable songs from the Guitar Hero World Tour set list - which will potentially add a huge amount of replay value to the package. These challenges include Power Challenge, High Score, and Band Streak. Players will attempt to achieve the highest scores possible on each challenge, in which they will unlock a multitude of rewards, level up, and show off their accomplishments in the leaderboards.

Here is the first of the 500 songs to be included in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock:

•AFI - "Dancing Through Sunday"

•Avenged Sevenfold - "Bat Country"

•Black Sabbath - "Children Of The Grave"

•Buzzcocks - "What Do I Get?"

  • *Drum rolling... short pause...* I highly recommend this game, not just to the Guitar Hero game series fans, but also to the ones who really liek true  and pure rock music. There are some legendary names in that song list and from what I read, plenty of new challenges and game modes. I'm wondering how the new re-designed guitar controller would be...

  • Seems like the setlist is slightly improving, but Guitar Hero, has its best days behind it.

  • A 500 song setlist is crazy.

  • Speaking of the controller...

  • @ILIAS - you know that's not true, right? no touch/slide thingy

    Posted Jun 08, 2010

  • @BrunoBRS : I don't want to disappoint you but it is true. This actual pic was posted at Guitar Hero's official facebook page. Wanna take a look a video too?

  • @ILIAS - wow, really? weird O_o

well it's obviously a 3D model, not the real thing, so it's probably just a prototype.

  • @BrunoBRS : Of course, it is a propotype. Still, there will be no touch pad/strip this year on this guitar controller. Instead, that exact part of the guitar pulls away and it's where the batteries will be placed. Alternatively for the Wii users, it's where the Wii controller will go.

  • @ILIAS - so wait, no ridiculous hole for the wiimote? :D:D:D
