Nintendo has finally revealed that the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will hit retail shelves on November 21 in North America, with Europe having to wait until December 5. Nintendo's Amiibo figurines will launch with the US version of the game, and Europe on November 28. The game will cost $60 and each Amiibo figure will run for $13.
According to Nintendo the 3DS version of the brawler is doing well, selling 2.8 million copies worldwide. Perhaps Super Smash Bros. will encourage more people to pick up a Wii U this holiday season.
Super Smash Bros. For the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U are fighting video games developed by Sora Ltd. and Bandai Namco Games and published by Nintendo. The two games represent the fourth and fifth installment in the popular franchise. Both versions feature identical gameplay and the same roster of characters but there are differences between the two games.
The Nintendo 3DS version of the game features cel-shaed outlines, trophies and assist trophies more focused on handheld games. The Wii U version will feature HD graphics, trophies and assist trophies based on console titles, and new stages.
The 3DS version also host new gameplay modes exclusive to the system. Smash Run has players navigating an environment in search of power-ups and defeating enemies based on roster of characters. Target Smash is based on the classic Break The Targets mode where players must clear the stage of all breakable targets. Trophy Rush is a mini-game where players bet coins to increase a timer to collect trophies while breaking boxes. Finally StreetSmash has players controlling a disc avatar and attempt to knock the other player off the arena. The Wii U version will support Nintendo GameCube controllers via the use of a special adapter and the Nintendo 3DS as a controller.
