Upgraded Versions of DOOM Eternal Will Not Be Available On Day 1 of PS5 And Xbox Series X/S Launch

Today, Bethesda provided an article explaining how owners of DOOM Eternal can upgrade their copy to the next-generation versions. With digital owners getting an immediate upgrade whereas physical owners only need to insert the disc. However, the next-gen version will not be available on day 1.

According to Bethesda, the game will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X through backward compatibility but the upgraded version will launch at a later date. Those with physical editions will still need the disc to play the upgraded version when it launches.

No, the upgraded next gen versions of DOOM Eternal will not be available day 1. However, DOOM Eternal will still be playable on Xbox Series X/Series S and PlayStation 5 with backwards compatibility. When we know the timing for the availability of the upgrade, we will let everyone know.

Bethesda did list that you will have all to all DLC and save files will carry over but did confirm you can only upgrade the game through the same console family. With is standard for all next-gen upgrades.
