My Top 10 Animes

By Freya, Posted 28 Dec 2009

Well, I got motivated by Xiao's blog post on her Top 10 favorite Anime Characters so I decided to make a list of my Top 10 favorite Animes, thanks Xiao for motivation? :D

10.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan

Dokuro

This was a pretty cute ecchi anime that I found on CrunchyRoll, although it was pretty short, this anime is filled with comedy and hilarious stuffs. Basically a normal middle-school boy suddenly found a angel in his house, she looks innocent but she can be violent, torturing the main character wherever he is because this angel is reckless. Re-watching probability is high.

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Majutsu

This anime was extremely interesting and has some hilarious parts in the whole anime, it takes place in Academy City, a place filled with students whom have super powers. It focuses on a guy named Touma, who has the ability to withstand any abilities pushed on him. The anime's plot was to show Touma's rivals and a story of him meeting a unknown angel named Index who helps him in his journey to stop villians from taking over Academy City. He makes new friends and rivals as he progresses through. Re-watching probability is average.

6.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi

This was one of the first animes I've watched and I fell in love with it after watching a few episodes, it's pretty much a comedy and school life anime. There is also a little romance but dun expect too much from it. Overall, there is a feeling that I can't explain why I like this anime a lot, I've collected a lot of collections of this anime (Figurines, Poker Cards, Posters). However, this is the type of anime that you'll only watch once or twice as you'll suddenly figure out new animes on the way. Re-watching probability is average.

Initial D: Fourth Stage

Initial D

I have been fan of the series for a long time since I was a child and I have to say each season is just awesome, but of course, Fourth Stage had the best plot and designs. Apparently, the whole Initial D series is still not completed as the producers did give hints that a Fifth Stage would come but it had been 5 years since Fourth Stage was released but probably the company's budget is low. I'm not sure how to start with the plot since it all began from the First Stage so I'll leave this mystery to you guys to solve :). Re-watching probability is very high.

6.

Kampfer

Kampfer

An anime recommended by my United States friend, Jesse, who apparently thought that I would like this anime and he was right. Kampfer has ecchi in it but that doesn't matter since ecchi scenes are not shown a lot of time throughout the anime. This anime features a lot of action, comedy and romance scenes. I'd leave the plot and storyline figuring to yourselves. Other than that, the last episode was a total disappointment for me, I didn't really like it and it was told to be the final episode which didn't really end well but in overall, I love this anime a lot. Re-watching probability is high.

5.

Baldr Force EXE Resolution

Baldr Force

An action packed anime which I found by knowing a good Kotoko song. It's a mature anime due to a little of nudity and lots of violence or gore. There was a rape scene which could scare any audience of this anime but overall, everything was good in this anime, graphics, designs and sounds. My only complain was that it was short, only four episodes and it was based on the main game, but I got to hand it over to the director as he could squeeze the whole game into four episodes. Soundtracks in this anime is perfect and the action scenes are extremely cool, plot twists and storyline complications are amazing. Re-watching probability is high.

4.

Minami-Ke

Minami

This was an extremely cute anime recommended by one of my Canadian friends, Patrick. It's about 3 sisters with the surname Minami leading a normal life, but in the path came by a lot of funny happenings and it is pretty fun to watch. Basically, this is more like a slice of life anime instead of a romance anime, there was a few things discussed about love and some of the characters getting confessions in the anime but overall, it's more focused on comedy. However, the second season was disappointing, it no longer had the original Minami-Ke feeling in it due to a change of producers and stroy writers which made the season less funny but the third season wasn't so bad at all. Re-watching probability is average.

3.

Final Approach

Final Approach

This was a pretty good but extremely short anime, at the last episode, the main cast said 'See You Again' which is extremely similar to Initial D series, to say that there'll be another season. But apparently, it's been 5 years since the first season came out and there wasn't any news about a second season. But I like the plot a lot, a girl barging into the main male character's house and claims that she is his fiancee. Overall, this is a extremely cute and funny anime, not serious most of the time but it gets more dramatic towards the end which almost made me cry. I fell in love with the opening song after listening it through different episodes. Anyway, a lot of watchers do not like this anime for any reason and instead, they rate it low and dun say a thing other than 'This anime sucks.' which probably doesn't in my eyes. I would of course recommend this to any comedy-romance-school life-slice of life anime lover. Re-watching probability is very high.

Rating: 9/10

2.

Seto no Hanayome

SnH

This was something similar to Final Approach, only that the main character had to marry a mermaid because it's a rule that if one sees a mermaid, one of them has to be executed but the other way is to have both of them marry each other. During their adventures of love, there was a lot of funny obstacles and jokes in it. I love this anime a lot and that's why it made it to my anime recommendations list. Re-watching probability is high.

Toradora!

Toradora

Time for my favorite anime named Toradora. I watched it out of curiousity as my friends were talking a lot about it. As I watched it, I fell in love with it because of the story it has and the character designs. I loved the soundtracks from the anime as all five of them are just awesome. This was the longest anime I've watched up to date as most animes I watch only consist of less than 20 episodes but this had 25. I would recommend this to any comedy-romance-school life-slice of life anime lover. Re-watching probability is very high.

  • Perhaps the most revolutionary thing that Toradora accomplished is that it allowed its characters to grow up. It's a genuine, nuanced tale about friendship, love and family, pretty much unrivaled by its contemporaries, and only bested by the best of the best.

Awesome list Freya. Totally unexpected blog from you. Loved it completely :D

@ Knight: I did try to watch Bleach but I gave up after 1 episode, I can't survive a 100+ episodes anime, I can only survive those 25 ones.
